Rafael is a Partner at our Brasilia Office and heads our banking and financial services practice.
Prior to joining private practice, he served as a Federal Attorney for the Brazilian Central Bank from 2014 until September 2023. In this role, Rafael represented the Central Bank and its officers in significant cases before Superior Courts. He also provided consultancy services related to the supervision of the financial system, focusing on authorizations for the operation of supervised entities and in administrative sanctioning procedures. More recently, he undertook the responsibility of conducting legal analyses for regulatory proposals to be issued by both the Central Bank and the National Monetary Council.
Rafael holds a master’s degree in law and finance from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt (LL.M Finance). He additionally serves as an editorial consultant for the Journal of the Attorney General of the Brazilian Central Bank.
Presently, he is also a Legislative Consultant at the Federal Senate, specializing in Economic Law and Regulation, Business Law, and Consumer Law
