Aldo Parisot was born almost 104 years ago in my hometown, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast of Brazil. When Aldo Parisot was young, an Italian immigrant and cellist, Tomazzo Babini, living in Natal, capital of our State, taught him music and how to play the cello. Later, Mr. Parisot left Brazil to the United States and became the longest-serving faculty member in the history of Yale University . He was also a faculty member at The Juilliard School. As a professor of celllo, Aldo Parisot taught and inspired generations of cellists from all over the world. Professor Parisot passed away at 100 years age, on December 29th, 2018. A “celebration of his extraordinary life and career”was organized by the Yale – School of Music on April 17th, 2019 and is available on YouTube.
